Jaiyen Tab

Reading the tab

Each note is a chip with its fret number. The line after it shows how long the note rings, and lights up while it sounds.
Chip colour is the fret. Frets above 12 use the colour of the fret 12 lower, darker. To turn the colours off, open View and set Fret chips to Neutral.

The counting row under each bar: bold syllables are played, faint ones are silent. Beat numbers are the boldest, so you can always find the count.
Each beat is counted only as finely as it needs: 2 & for 8ths, 3 e & a for 16ths, trip let for triplets. A dot is a pick between spoken words (32nds, 5-lets, 7-lets). The bracket under the strings shows the grouping. To see only the played syllables, switch off Subdivision counting in View.

Other marks

Fast passages get more room, so fewer bars fit on a row.

Getting around

Press Open in the rail (down the left side, or along the bottom on a phone), then Open a new file…, or drop a Guitar Pro file anywhere on the page. The same menu lists Your files: every file you opened in this browser, to search and open again. If it has several tracks, pick one with the track button next to the song title. The file is remembered in this browser.
Click the tab to place the cursor. Drag across it to loop those beats. Double-click loops one bar.
The timeline above the controls shows the whole song. Hover to preview, click to jump, drag to loop.
Hover a note to see its name (and how it's played) in a small card just above it. With the fretboard on (F), it also lights up on the neck.
Next to the song title: the tuning (in bold when it isn't standard; click it and turn the knob to hear the song in your guitar's tuning, half a step at a time), then the time signature and tempo.
Scrolling while it plays pauses auto-follow. Tap Follow playhead to go back.
The picture at the top is a scene: Lek, a stick-figure boy, hops across lily pads in time with the notes. View in the rail sets its size or hides it.

Playing

Play starts from the cursor. Press it again to stop: the cursor goes back to where you pressed Play (in a loop, to the loop's start), ready to try again. With no loop it plays to the end of the song.
Loop repeats the selection. With nothing selected, it loops the section the cursor is in (or 4 bars).
− and + change the speed by 5%; hold to keep going. Tap the number for 50, 75 and 100% and the looping options: speed up while looping, a gap between repeats, play the bar before the loop first, go back to the start when the song ends. Double-click the number to go straight back to 100%.
Click turns the metronome on and off. The arrow beside it opens what the click plays on (quarter notes, 8th notes, 16th notes, or follow the grid), the accent on beat 1, the Guitar / Click balance (the middle is equal volume) and Count-in (one bar of clicks before you start).

Export and View (in the rail)

Export gives you a Printable PDF, or a Video banner: a scrolling tab for cover videos, drawn frame by frame to match the file's tempo. Pick the layout (Page flip, Rolling page or Scrolling), theme, 1080p, 1440p or 4K, 30 or 60 fps, and the whole song or the current loop. The click track helps you line the video up with your recording; it only stays in sync if you recorded to a click at the file's tempo.
View sets the scene size (Scene, Large or Hidden), the top strip (Lek's canal or Rhythm symbols, which has no scene), the fretboard, subdivision lines and counting, the size of the tab, bars per row, how many rows of tab show (Auto, 1, 2 or 3), note names, fret chips, the theme (System, Light or Dark) and Focus on the scene.
The three small row icons beside Fretboard in the bottom bar pick 1, 2 or 3 rows of tab. One that can't fit is greyed; hover it to see why (usually: hide the fretboard).

Writing a tab

Open, then Start a new tab: 4 empty bars in Edit mode (E turns it on and off; on a Guitar Pro song, Edit starts a new tab). Click a spot on a string, or move with the arrow keys, and type the fret. Clicking a fret on the fretboard writes it too.
A note lasts until the next note (or the bar line). To leave a rest, make it shorter with [ or drag the small line at its end.
The bar under the tab sets the grid (8ths, 16ths, 8th or 16th triplets), palm mute, dead note and hammer-on / pull-off, the tempo and the time signature. Your tab saves as you go in Your files; Export, Guitar Pro file downloads it.
Files you open stay open as small tabs after the song title, like a browser: click one to switch, × to close it, + for a blank tab. When they don't all fit, N more lists the rest; on a phone, the arrow after the title does.

0–9 write the fret (two digits quickly for 10–24), Delete remove it
← → one grid step (past the end adds a bar), ↑ ↓ string up / down
[ ] note shorter / longer
P palm mute, X dead note, H hammer-on or pull-off to the next note
Drag a box round notes to select them: Delete removes them, L loops them, ⌘ C then ⌘ V at the cursor copies them. To loop without selecting, drag along the timeline or double-click a bar.
⌘ Z undo, Shift ⌘ Z redo, Esc clear the selection, then leave Edit mode

, . loop end a bar left / right, with Shift the start
